Episode 09: Rebus

Sprinters of a society that runs, we are catapulted into a corner of the world where time still knows how to wait, slows down, and stops.
It is the world of Antonio who, together with his brother Carlo, gave life to Rebus, the ceramic workshop that found its home in the city of Lecce and in Otranto, where it is well represented by two shops and an artisan laboratory.
The imprinting comes from a painter father, admired by the wide-open eyes of two children; open minds able to grasp beauty and a pure breath capable of absorbing art.
Slowness also characterizes the creative process: the idea is born and becomes a drawing; the drawing takes shape in clay, worked on the wheel with refined techniques and tools; once dry, it enters the kiln; cooled, it is enriched and colored, then meets the kiln once again. The work is complete, but only through the passion of those who created it and knew how to wait for it.
Hands, and only hands, give life to objects of craftsmanship and works of art that interpret the nature of Salento, coloring the yellow of its sand, the green of its olive trees, the blue of its two seas.
With its products, its artistic masterpieces, its high-design and furnishing objects, the clay of southern Italy reaches the north and leans into the international world, where it earns admiration and recognition.
Mani Nobili is an original series hosted by Mesciu Gigi that invites viewers into conversations with artisans of the highest order, craftsmen dedicated entirely to their craft. This series is an invitation to enter the sacred spaces of Italian craftsmanship where human led design, guided by tradition, functionality, and intention give form to beauty.
Through the eyes of our President, Nicolas Segura, and the voice of our General Manager of Italy, Luca Giusto, we traverse the storied region of Apulia to meet the master artisans whose work sustains the soul of a true Made in Italy. From tailoring to sculpture, from ceramics to woodwork, each episode offers a glimpse into a world where technique is inherited and iterated upon, tradition is honored and enriched, and every gesture speaks of devotion and purpose.
This series is more than a chronicle of fine workmanship; it is a celebration of vocation, of lives lived in pursuit of excellence, of heritage made tangible, of the subtle but profound harmony between mind, body, and soul that elevates an object by uniting it to a rich tapestry of craft dating back millennia.
As alluded to previously, this inaugural season is dedicated to the artisans of the region of Apulia. Each month, we dedicate ourselves to one artisan. Monthly on the fifteenth, we unveil a new chapter in their story on our YouTube channel.
We invite you to walk beside us in this ongoing journey, a journey not only into craft, but into the heart of what it means to create with purpose.
We invite you to complete this form if you would like to receive these updates and more benefits.
